Lycée provides the advanced or tertiary stage of children’s education, and seeks to prepare pupils for under-graduate study, advanced apprenticeships and professional employment induction courses.

As in each previous level, children will follow the normal routine shared by their French peers. In their first year, a foundation course prepares them for entry into the Baccalauréat Français International, (BFI), which is run by Education Nationale, the French national education authority, and should not be confused with the International Baccalaureate.

In the final two years of the Lycée, English 31 pupils follow the British option available to Section Internationale pupils; they follow the English and History/Geography programmes of the Baccalauréat Français International (BFI), which are jointly run by the British Section’s partners and Education Nationale, the French national education authority. There is complete integration into the French Baccalauréat, in order that they develop complete fluency in both languages, the BFI also offers formal recognition at, Baccalaureate level, of your child’s bilingual ability; combined, they command respect internationally as a high quality preparation for higher education.

The English Literature and History/Geography subjects of the Baccalauréat Français International (BFI) are taught exclusively in English and are examined using syllabi and assessment practices overseen and validated by the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). The normal French system’s requirements for both a foreign language and History & Geography are replaced by the BFI’s English Literature & Language and History/Geography courses.
